Essential storage

Atlas uses local browser storage to remember your cookie choice so that the consent notice does not repeatedly appear. The preference is stored under atlas_cookie_choice. It remains in your browser until you change your choice, clear your browser storage or your browser removes it.

Google Analytics

With your permission, Atlas uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the website and to measure website activity. Google Analytics is not loaded unless you select Accept analytics. If you choose Essential only, Analytics is not authorised and the Atlas website does not load Google Analytics through our consent-controlled setup.

When Analytics is accepted, Google Analytics may set first-party cookies including _ga, which is used to distinguish users, and _ga_J0FNNH9DFR, which is used to maintain session information for our Analytics property. Google documents a default expiry of up to two years for these cookies, although browser restrictions may shorten their lifetime.

We use Analytics for website measurement only. Atlas does not use this consent choice for advertising or remarketing, and advertising-related consent permissions remain disabled in our current configuration.

Analytics information

Google Analytics may process information such as website interactions, session statistics, approximate geographic information and browser or device information. Atlas has designed its Analytics events so that names, email addresses, telephone numbers, enquiry messages and other directly identifying enquiry information are not sent to Google Analytics. Successful enquiries may be measured using a non-identifying enquiry category.

Third-party services

Google provides the Google Analytics service used for website measurement. The website also uses OpenStreetMap map tiles through Leaflet, which may involve requests to those services when an interactive map loads.

Managing your choice

You can change your Analytics choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the website footer. Choosing Essential only withdraws Analytics permission and our consent mechanism removes the Analytics cookies used by the Atlas website before reloading the page without Analytics. You can also remove cookies and local storage through your browser settings.
